How to check Apple Home compatibility
Four things decide whether a device really works with Apple Home. Check them in this order.
1. Protocol
Does it speak Matter, HomeKit, or neither? "Smart home" alone means nothing. Matter and HomeKit both work with Apple Home; Zigbee and Bluetooth-only usually need a hub.
2. Hub / border router
Does it need the vendor's own hub (e.g. to expose Matter), or a Thread border router? A device can be "Apple Home capable" and still need a bridge.
3. Features that are cut
Some devices expose only part of their feature set via Matter/HomeKit. The maker's app may be needed for firmware or advanced settings.
4. The source
Trust the spec sheet, not the badge. Each row in our compatibility matrix links its source and a verification date — protocol, ecosystem and hub requirement in one place, no guessing.
